University of Lagos on Thursday has agreed to reduce the hiked fees of the institution. The decision was made in an indoor meeting with the students leaders and representatives of NANS which was held inside the Senate building.

Other fees to be reduced are; Obligatory fee, hostel fee, Utility fee and convocation fee. Other issues being addressed is the reinstatement of the Student Union Government. As it stands, there’s high hope of reinstatement, as it was addressed.

Speaking with an high ranked source who doesn’t want his name on print, the source said the students’ union government which was proscribed in 2016 will be reinstated as well as reduction of the hiked fees.

Breakdown of the Reduced UNILAG Fees

20,000 Naira will be reduced from the obligatory fee
5,000 naira will be reduced from utility fee
3,000 naira will be reduced from the convocation fee
47,000 naira will be reduced from the hostel fee which was earlier pegged as 90,000 naira for public hostel.
Meanwhile, Sodeinde will be reduced from 250,000 to 135,000 naira.

Why I Referred To Protesters As Non Unilag Student – DSA

University of Lagos Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr Musa Obalola on Thursday has given the reason why he referred to the protesters of the Hiked tuition fee as non unilag students.

Babalola said that Unilag students have representatives, that speak on behalf of them, rather the protest witnessed different set of people, even outsiders not part of the institution.
